Commanders’ Potential TD Overturned as Analyst Disagrees; Daniels Injured

The Washington Commanders briefly tied the Dallas Cowboys in the third quarter of Sunday’s NFC East showdown.

Marcus Mariota found Dyami Brown on a 35‑yard pass that initially looked like a touchdown. The play was ruled incomplete by the officials, prompting a challenge from the Commanders after the replay suggested Brown had secured the ball.

Upon review, the officiating crew determined Brown had lost possession of the ball, upholding the incomplete pass call.

FOX Sports rules analyst Dean Blandino disagreed with the decision.

“I believe what they are ruling is that they couldn’t determine if he had control when he hit the ground,” Blandino said. “To me, the left knee is in, he has control, slight movement is not a loss of control. That’s a touchdown in my opinion.”

The Commanders settled for a field goal on a six‑play, 31‑yard drive, trimming the Cowboys’ advantage to 17‑13.

Meanwhile, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels exited the game with an apparent elbow injury and was carted off for evaluation. Mariota took the helm to finish the NFC East contest.
