Corn futures closed August with modest gains, advancing between 1 and 3.5 cents per bushel. On First Notice Day, 90 delivery notices were posted against September corn contracts. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price rose 3.5 cents to $4.93 1/2 per bushel.
The latest Crop Progress report indicated that, as of August 30, 62% of U.S. corn had entered the dough stage, with an additional 62% dented and 13% mature. Overall condition ratings remained steady at 47% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index slipped one point to 347, reflecting a shift from excellent to good rating.
Export inspections released Monday showed 1.496 million metric tons (58.9 million bushels) of corn shipped during the week of August 27, up 13.11% from the prior week and 6.12% above the year‑ago level. Mexico was the top destination at 510,453 metric tons, followed by South Korea (264,474 MT) and Japan (173,086 MT). For the marketing year to date, total corn exports now stand at 83.81 MMT (3.299 billion bushels), which is 25.14% ahead of the same period last year.
AgRural reported that Brazil’s 2025/26 second corn crop is estimated at 96% harvested in the center‑south region, lagging behind the pace of last year. Planting for the 2026/27 first corn crop in the same region is at 11% completed.
