Corn futures have risen 2 to 3 cents per bushel across most contracts on Wednesday, with the national average Cash Corn price increasing by 2.75 cents to $4.09.

Morning EIA data revealed ethanol production decreased by 22,000 barrels per day week-over-week to 1.098 million barrels per day in the week ending January 2. Despite this reduction, ethanol stocks increased by 708,000 barrels to 22.652 million barrels. Exports also declined by 35,000 barrels per day to 113,000 barrels per day, while refiner inputs dropped significantly by 117,000 barrels per day to 771,000 barrels per day, reflecting typical seasonal trends post-holidays.

Traders anticipate the release of Export Sales data on Thursday, with forecasts suggesting 0.7 to 1.5 million metric tons of corn sales for the 2025/26 marketing year during the week of January 1. Sales for the 2026/27 marketing year are projected between 0 and 100,000 metric tons.

Brazil’s trade ministry reported corn exports in December reached 6.128 million metric tons, marking a 43.6% increase compared to the previous year and a 21.75% rise from November.
