A spokesperson for the Cornwall Green Party acknowledged Councillor Creek’s contributions during their tenure, while noting that the party encompasses a range of perspectives regarding the recent “Zionism is Racism” motion.
The spokesperson emphasized that internal disagreement over the motion’s wording should not overshadow the party’s unified stance condemning what it describes as genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the occupied territories, alongside its call for stricter sanctions against Israel.
Drawing a contrast with the Labour Party, the statement asserted that Labour refuses to recognize these actions as genocide and continues to permit arms exports and intelligence sharing with the Israeli government.
The spokesperson concluded by questioning how advocates for climate action, economic equality, and genocide prevention could align with a party they characterized as uncommitted to these causes.
