Cotton futures hit the daily 4-cent limit lower across most 2026/27 contracts, while broader contracts declined 182 to 275 points. Crude oil fell $3.66 per barrel during the session, and the US dollar index rose $0.214.
Weekly Crop Progress data indicated that 70% of the US cotton crop had bolls opening as of Sunday. Harvest progress reached 17%, two percentage points ahead of normal, with condition ratings at 35% good/excellent, up one point week-over-week. The Brugler500 index slipped one point to 294.
The Seam reported 2,657 bales sold on September 28 at an average of 83.90 cents per pound. The Cotlook A index retreated 50 points to 93.25 on 9/28. ICE certified cotton stocks were flat on Monday at 28,064 bales, while the Adjusted World Price fell 283 points last week to 66.09 cents per pound.
Oct 26 Cotton closed at 75.13, down 393 points; Dec 26 Cotton closed at 78.86, down 400 points; Mar 27 Cotton closed at 81.75, down 400 points.
