Cotton futures rebounded on Monday morning, recovering some of the losses incurred during the previous Friday session. Monday morning gains ranged from 204 to 258 points, following a retreat where front-month futures fell between 79 and 103 points on Friday. The December contract was down 491 points for the week.

In broader market news, crude oil prices fell by $2.38 per barrel during the session, while the US dollar index declined by $0.040.

Geopolitical developments surrounding trade continue to capture market attention. China’s President Xi is scheduled to meet with President Trump in the US this week, with trade expected to be a central topic of discussion. Concurrently, US Secretary of the Treasury Bessent traveled to China over the weekend to lay the groundwork for further talks next week.

According to the CFTC Commitment of Traders report, managed money trimmed back 2,267 contracts from their net long position during the week of September 15, bringing the total to 97,903 contracts.

The Cotlook A index fell 25 points on September 17, settling at 94.35. ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady on September 17 at 36,617 bales, while the Adjusted World Price dropped 59 points on Thursday to 68.92 cents per pound.
