Newly promoted Coventry City have completed the signing of teenage forward Sidiki Cherif from Turkish club Fenerbahce.
The 19-year-old, originally from Guinea and raised in France, joins the Sky Blues on a long-term contract. He arrives following a stint in the Turkish Super Lig where he netted two goals in 12 appearances for Fenerbahce, a club he joined from Angers on a loan deal with a purchase obligation.
Coventry have shown strong support for manager Frank Lampard during this transfer window, securing high-profile additions including Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Loum Tchaouna, Aurele Amenda, and Taiwo Awoniyi, alongside the return of Gustavo Hamer.
“I am incredibly happy to be a Coventry City player and am excited to play in the Premier League,” Cherif stated. “I look forward to showing the fans my abilities and playing in such an amazing stadium. I can’t wait to get started.”
Prior to arriving at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Cherif gained valuable continental experience playing in the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
Cherif’s professional journey began in France, making his senior debut for Angers during the 2023-24 season. Following Angers’ promotion to Ligue 1 in 2024, the youngster demonstrated significant potential, scoring four Ligue 1 goals by December of the 2025-26 campaign.
His rising profile, which includes call-ups to the France Under-16 and Under-21 squads, attracted interest from several European clubs before his eventual move to Turkey.
