Creedence Clearwater Revival continues to maintain a strong presence on Billboard charts, largely due to the enduring success of Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits, one of the longest-charting releases in Billboard 200 history. The band’s latest chart achievement, however, marks a significant milestone in their legacy.

During the July Fourth holiday week, the iconic track “Fortunate Son” experienced a surge in popularity, reemerging on multiple charts and achieving a historic first-time ranking. The song’s renewed relevance, tied to its patriotic themes, has reignited interest in the legendary rock group.

Historic Streaming Chart Entry for Creedence Clearwater Revival

“Fortunate Son” enters the Streaming Songs chart at No. 44, becoming the band’s first entry on this all-genre ranking. The chart, which tracks the most-streamed tracks across the U.S., did not exist during the group’s original active years, as streaming platforms emerged decades after their dissolution.

Patriotic Tracks Dominate Streaming Chart

Seven new entries populate the Streaming Songs chart this week, with “Fortunate Son” ranking second-to-last among newcomers. Beyoncé’s “Morning Dew (Donk)” leads the pack at No. 17, while other patriotic or Americana-themed songs—including Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.,” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”—secure positions at Nos. 23, 29, 30, and 33, respectively.
John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” debuts at No. 48, further highlighting the wave of nostalgia-driven streaming during the holiday period.

“Fortunate Son” Reaches New Global Peak

The song also reenters the Billboard Global 200, climbing to No. 159—a new high for the CCR classic. It previously debuted on the global chart in July 2024, underscoring its sustained international appeal.

Multiple Chart Reentries for Classic Tracks

“Fortunate Son” returns to the Hot 100 at No. 44 and reenters the Rock Streaming Songs chart at No. 9, nearing its previous top-10 peak of No. 8. Meanwhile, “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” gains traction on three charts, ascending 20 spots on the Billboard Global 200 and climbing to No. 16 on the Rock Streaming Songs chart. The track also reappears on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. ranking at No. 191.

Chronicle Compilation Surges on Albums Charts

The renewed interest in CCR’s catalog has boosted Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits, which jumps from No. 39 to No. 24 on the Top Streaming Albums chart—the band’s highest-ever placement. The compilation also ascends to No. 3 on the Top Rock Albums chart, while improving its standing on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Billboard 200 rankings. Additionally, it reenters the Top Album Sales chart, reflecting strong retail demand.
