Cointelegraph Seeks Acquisition Amid Sharp Decline in Website Traffic
According to a source close to the matter, cryptocurrency media company Cointelegraph is reportedly seeking an acquisition.
The specific valuation threshold the company is targeting remains undisclosed, and the individual speaking on condition of anonymity declined to provide additional details.
A sustained slump in cryptocurrency market prices has diverted public focus, negatively impacting many digital‑asset news outlets.
Earlier, Cointelegraph suffered roughly an 80 % fall in organic search traffic following Google’s manual penalty in October 2025, which caused the site to lose visibility in Google’s results. A separate front‑end vulnerability was identified against the platform in June of the prior year.
Pre‑penalty analytics show the site attracted over 12 million monthly visitors in December 2024; current data indicate visitor numbers have dropped to just over 700 k per month as of September 1.
