Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly engaged in trade talks to acquire England all‑rounder Liam Livingstone from Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the IPL 2027 season. SRH has not yet confirmed its stance on allowing the athlete to leave.
With the IPL retention deadline looming on November 17, several franchises are intensifying transfer activity. While the much‑discussed Hardik Pandya deal continues to attract attention, Livingstone’s potential move is gaining traction as another significant development in the market.
According to a Cricbuzz report, CSK are evaluating the possibility of bringing the 33‑year‑old back to their roster, while a northern Indian franchise has also expressed interest. Negotiations remain in early stages, with multiple teams and players involved.
CSK Explore Livingstone Trade, Khaleel Ahmed Among Players Discussed
Livingstone joined Sunrisers Hyderabad after being released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The franchise secured his services for Rs 13 crore, a significant increase over the Rs 8.75 crore paid by RCB in the previous mega auction.
His first season with SRH was unfulfilling; he contributed only 15 runs across two appearances and was subsequently dropped from the playing XI, including the Impact Player option.
CSK are also considering a swap that could involve left‑arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed, although the credibility of that proposal remains uncertain.
Chennai could also explore adding another player alongside or instead of Khaleel as negotiations develop. SRH’s recent acquisition of veteran left‑arm pacer T Natarajan raises questions about whether they would be interested in adding a comparable bowler.
Sunrisers Hyderabad now faces a decision on whether to retain Livingstone, pursue an exchange, or consider other squad options before the retention deadline.
With November 17 approaching, the outcome of these talks will shape Livingstone’s IPL future. For the moment, both sides have not finalised a trade involving the England all‑rounder.
