Curran Praises Sooryavanshi’s Talent While Cautioning That Debut at 15 Will Be a Test

Sam Curran highlighted some of the challenges that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might face if he makes his India debut at just 15.

While many cricket fans and experts urge the Indian team management to award Sooryavanshi his maiden international cap, Curran warned that playing at the highest level at such a young age—especially in England, where conditions are often not batter‑friendly आसपास—could pose a significant challenge for the opener. Curran recalled his 15‑year‑old days, noting that his own exploits were modest compared with Sooryavanshi’s. The 28‑year‑old admitted he enjoys watching Sooryavanshi bat, unless he finds himself on the bowling side.

“It’s fascinating to see what he is achieving at 15. Back when I was 15, I was just playing in a Surrey school. Now he’s striking it out across Ahmedabad and beyond. I hope he stays focused, because I also appreciate his play—except when he’s facing my delivery,” said Curran.
