The Dallas Cowboys public relations staff was honored with the 2026 Pete Rozelle Award by the Professional Football Writers of America, recognizing the department’s exceptional professionalism with media covering the franchise.
This marks the first time in the organization’s history that the Cowboys have received the award, making them the 37th recipient.
The other finalists for the 2026 award were the Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks.
The Rozelle Award celebrates NFL club public relations teams that consistently demonstrate excellence in media relations. It is named after Pete Rozelle, the league’s commissioner from 1960 to 1989, who began his career in sports public relations while a student at Compton Junior College and the University of San Francisco.
During the 2025 season, the Cowboys’ football communications staff consisted of Tad Carper (senior vice president of communications), Scott Agulnek (director of football communications), David Abbruzese (public relations manager), Bronte Hermesmeyer (public relations coordinator), Whitney Faulkner (public and community relations program manager), and Kalie Smith (football communications seasonal intern).
Having been a finalist for the Rozelle Award three times in the past four years (2023, 2024, and 2026), the Cowboys’ PR team facilitated extensive media access throughout the 2025 season, providing beat writers with opportunities to interview head coach Brian Schottenheimer, assistant coaches, players, as well as owner/president/general manager Jerry Jones and other front‑office personnel.
