Dana White Blasts Eddie Hearn for Sabotaging What Could Be Boxing’s Biggest British Fight

“A guy who’s supposed to be one of the promoters of the event, I’ve never seen somebody do more damage to a fight than this guy has done. You’re supposed to be promoting your guy, and in the busted-up system right now, you go wherever the money is. It’s one of the most fascinating things I’ve ever seen. Eddie Hearn just keeps hurting the fight. A fight that should have happened 10 years ago,” White told talkSPORT Boxing.

Although White did not elaborate on particular complaints, his irritation is clearly rooted in the very public discord between Hearn and TKO. Hearn has openly challenged the proposed venue, defended Joshua’s contractual position, and expressed outrage at attempts to exclude him from negotiations.

Hearn is intent on staging the fight on British soil and has raised concerns about proposals involving outside financiers. Advocating for Joshua is sound business, but waging a public campaign through the press inevitably provoked White’s pointed rebuke.

Hearn is caught in a difficult position. He cannot lock Joshua into a disadvantageous agreement, yet broadcasting his disputes publicly only makes the entire venture appear unstable. White operates by a straightforward principle: when significant money is on the line, sign the contract and step aside.

That attitude overlooks legitimate challenges, including venue selection, broadcast agreements, and promotional jurisdiction. Hearn has every reason to safeguard his domain. Nevertheless, White raises a valid point about the risks of haggling through the media.

Fury and Joshua have spent nearly a decade circling this matchup without ever throwing a punch. With time running out for two heavyweights approaching the latter stages of their careers, the opportunity grows more fleeting by the day.

Should talks collapse once more, fans will not care which contractual clause, venue bid, or executive ultimately killed the deal. All they will remember is that boxing allowed a generational clash to slip away at a moment when the money and public demand were staring everyone in the face.
