Broadcasting live from the Stadium of Light, Brotherton highlighted a key detail that emerged moments after Arsenal’s decisive goal.

“While Bruno Guimaraes celebrated his spectacular shot, David Raya sprinted toward the technical area and was welcomed by Mikel Arteta and the coaching staff,” Brotherton explained.

“Without Raya’s penalty save earlier, that goal would not have been possible.”

Raya’s swift movement underscored the team’s collective understanding: just 121 seconds before Guimaraes’ strike, the goalkeeper had preserved Arsenal’s momentum with a crucial fingertip save on Enzo Le Fée’s penalty.

Raya’s Influence Secured Arsenal’s Victory

Raya’s contributions extended well beyond his penalty save, earning him a match-high 9/10 rating as Arsenal clinched a 2-0 away win.

In the latter stages, as Sunderland intensified their attacks, Raya denied Nordi Mukiele from close range after a dangerous Granit Xhaka cross.

His exceptional performances ultimately allowed Bukayo Saka to add a late penalty to seal the triumph, reinforcing Raya’s vital role in Arsenal’s title ambitions.
