The investigation into the weekend assault allegation involving Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been closed, though the matter may not be fully resolved.
According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports South Florida, the Davie, Florida police department, which initially declared the case closed, now indicates that a detective will continue to investigate the incident.
The incident occurred over the weekend when a woman identified as Kristen posted a video alleging that Smith “beat my ass.”
The Jets have not issued a statement regarding the matter. Should Smith be charged, the NFL may also conduct its own investigation and impose discipline under its Personal Conduct Policy.
Smith, originally selected in the second round by the Jets in 2013, was acquired via trade in March after a ten‑year tenure with multiple franchises. He is slated to become the team’s starter for the 2026 season.
