Davis made her first public appearance since revealing her stage four breast cancer diagnosis on August 11, attending an event where she engaged with fans and participated in a panel discussion.
In her August announcement, Davis disclosed that her cancer had spread to her bones, describing the situation as “too late” for chemotherapy treatment.
During the Saturday event, Davis signed autographs and took photographs with attendees before joining the panel discussion. While some fans expressed their affection by saying “I love you so much,” none directly questioned her about her health condition.
The panel included notable figures such as Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright and actor Simon Pegg, who portrayed the film’s lead character. Davis gained recognition for her role as Dianne, an aspiring actress and member of the core survivor group in the cult British horror-comedy, where she assisted Pegg’s character in battling zombies.
Reflecting on her filming experience, Davis shared fond memories of moments when the cast would pretend to be zombies and walk through the square, describing it as “like being naughty schoolkids” and recalling how much fun they had, noting they “went a bit mad.”
Best known for her role as receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the BBC sitcom The Office, and as the daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott, Davis received applause when offering guidance to aspiring industry professionals during the panel.
She shared her perspective: “We all grow up with different lives and different worlds telling us we all have limitations. None of us do — our only limitations are things that we think are limiting. We can do anything, or be anybody, and don’t apologise for that.”
Two days following her cancer diagnosis announcement, Davis expressed her gratitude to fans, stating: “OK, so the last two days have been utterly overwhelming, in that I had zero idea my cancer post would have the attention it did. Truly, I am in shock. That said, thank you to everyone for the tremendous amount of kindness and support you have sent me. Good grief it was emotional.”
