Death Valley Actress Opens Up About ADHD Diagnosis: ‘It Explained Everything’]

Keyworth, who was born in Aberystwyth, revealed that ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) was rarely discussed in her Welsh hometown during the 1990s.

“ADHD in women presents very differently,” she explained. “I recall teachers telling me I wasn’t trying hard enough, yet I was putting in my absolute best effort and still couldn’t complete basic tasks. I’m simply not suited for traditional desk work.”

Through her school years, Keyworth consistently received feedback noting her vivid imagination and creativity, but also her struggles with focus, talkativeness, and completing reading assignments.

She credits her former teachers with providing her additional time to finish work, a support that proved invaluable. “Now looking back, it’s remarkably clear,” she said about finally receiving her ADHD diagnosis approximately two years ago.

“The diagnosis made me feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered acting as a career path that truly suits my nature.”
