Last month, the Los Angeles‑based queer and trans electropop duo Alli Logout and Margo XS, known for their magnetic sound as deBasement, released the standout single “STAY IN YOUR LINE.” The track will appear on their forthcoming EP HARD BODY, scheduled for release on July 17 through In Real Life Records. The project’s lead single, “CUT THE LINE,” offers a vivid portrayal of the absurd and irritating encounters that can surface during a late‑night outing, delivering a sharp and timely commentary.
In an official press release, the duo elaborated on the upcoming EP:
HARD BODY represents a state of being that emerges as we adapt to survive. It explores the connection between the automobile and the human form, and the distortions that arise from that intersection: how the self can become mechanical and rigid, a vessel we both adorn and transform, yet one that ultimately can only be challenged by a spectacular rupture. The record dwells in the tension between self‑preservation, self‑destruction, and ecstasy, where desire and metamorphosis serve as instruments of both survival and collapse. Each composition traverses these conditions in its own way, emphasizing contemporary anxieties and embracing the surrounding perversions.
