Derek Jeter playfully called out Colin Cowherd on The Herd Monday, referencing a previous on-air misstep by the host regarding his career timeline.
Jeter reminded Cowherd of a 2022 interview where Cowherd incorrectly claimed to have covered the Hall of Fame shortstop during the “Nolan Ryan era.” Jeter corrected him then, stating, “I was way after Nolan. Way, way, way after.” The exchange highlighted the confusion between their eras, as Ryan pitched from 1966 to 1993, while Jeter’s career with the Yankees began in 1995 and peaked in the late 1990s and 2000s.
Cowherd laughed off the jab, and the segment proceeded to discuss Jeter’s current role as a Fox Sports studio analyst and his thoughts on the MLB All-Star Game. Jeter praised the Automatic Ball-Strike System (ABS), noting he would have found it beneficial during his playing career.
Since retiring, Jeter has become a regular presence on MLB pregame and postgame shows, leveraging his experience and insights as a former player and executive.
