With the 2026-27 season approaching, the New Jersey Devils are turning their attention to preseason preparations. Before the main camp begins, the club’s prospects will take the ice for rookie camp, which opens Saturday, Sept. 12. The team has now announced its roster.
The 25-player roster includes 14 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goaltenders. Nathan Brown, Caelan Joudrey, and Nathan Lecompte have also received invitations to camp.
Rookie camp offers the first opportunity for several players to appear in Devils colors. Anton Silaev, selected 10th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, has remained in his home country to play over the past two seasons. His participation will mark the first time he takes the ice in the Devils’ red and black.
Only two players from the Devils’ 2026 draft class will attend: Luke Wilfley and Quinn McKenzie. Wilfley was selected in the sixth round, 172nd overall, while McKenzie went in the seventh round, 222nd overall. Although both were chosen later in the draft, each will look to make a strong impression in his Devils debut.
The team’s 2026 12th-overall pick, Alexander Command, is noticeably absent from the roster. The Sweden-born player will remain in his home country next season to play for Örebro HK.
Jeremy Brodeur is also among the attendees. One of three goaltenders on the roster, Brodeur has extensive experience in both the American Hockey League and ECHL but has yet to make his NHL debut. A strong showing could help strengthen his case with the Devils’ management.
Lenni Hameenaho, who appeared in 33 games for New Jersey last season, has also been assigned to rookie camp. After splitting time between the Devils and their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, he will look to earn a full-time place on the NHL roster in his second consecutive camp.
The Devils’ rookie camp begins with a practice Saturday, Sept. 12. New Jersey will face the New York Islanders’ rookie roster at the RWJ Barnabas Center on Sunday, Sept. 13, before holding another practice Monday. The teams will meet again Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Northwell Health Ice Center. Both games will be streamed live.
