Boost Mobile and Gen Mobile remain unaffected by the bankruptcy proceedings and will maintain regular service availability.
The company attributes its inability to settle $2 billion in obligations due July 1st to insufficient cash flow caused by the postponed 5G spectrum auction. Previously, Dish abandoned ambitions to become a top US carrier after attempting to sell spectrum assets to AT&T and SpaceX—both transactions remain unfinalized per The Wall Street Journal reports.
“EchoStar has maintained leadership in telecom innovation over 45 years,” stated CEO Charlie Ergen in the company’s filing. “This restructuring allows us to strengthen our position while continuing to provide the reliable services our customers rely on.”
