[Disney Acquires Former Yamaha Headquarters, Fueling Georgia Expansion]
‘Barron’s Roundtable’ panelists analyze how investors are making bets in a ‘stealth bear market.’
The Walt Disney Company has acquired Yamaha Motor Corp.’s longtime Southern California headquarters for approximately $115 million, as the Japanese manufacturer prepares to relocate its remaining U.S. headquarters operations to Georgia.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. purchased the roughly 25‑acre property at 6555 Katella Ave. in Cypress, California, in a transaction that closed on September 23, pursuant to property records cited by the Orange County Business Journal. Transfer‑tax information on the grant deed indicates a sale price of about $115 million, the publication reported.
The industrial‑zoned campus spans an entire city block and encompasses roughly 279,000 sq ft of warehouse, flex and office space.

Disney stated the acquisition will furnish space to meet its long‑term operational and evolving business needs, according to the Orange County Register. The property, situated several miles from Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, is slated for use in “back‑of‑house” functionality.

Yamaha noted in February that it intended to divest its Cypress land, offices and warehouses while moving its headquarters to Georgia throughout late 2026 and early 2028, employing a sale‑and‑leaseback model to safeguard business continuity.

The company explained that the restructuring aims to bolster profitability amid heightened U.S. tariff costs and shifting market dynamics.
Yamaha has occupied the Cypress location for almost half a century; its parent bought the land in 1978 and set up shop the following year.

The company already maintains a sizable footprint in Georgia, having relocated its marine division to Kennesaw in 1999 and motorsports units in 2019. Yamaha employs over 2,300 workers in the state, including roughly 2,000 staff at its manufacturing site in Newnan.
“After many years of solid partnership, we are honored and proud to welcome Yamaha’s American headquarters to the No. 1 state for business,” declared Governor Brian Kemp when the move was announced.
