Since its opening in 1962, Dodger Stadium has stood as MLB’s largest arena with a seating capacity of 56,000, and this season “Dodger baseball” has emerged as one of the most sought-after experiences in sports entertainment.
Over the past two seasons, the team has consistently drawn more than four million fans for their home games. This year alone, they set a new franchise record with 4,034,219 total attendees, averaging 49,805 fans per game.
The 2024 signings of two-way star Shohei Ohtani and pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto significantly strengthened the team’s connection with Asian audiences, boosting Japanese tourism to Los Angeles while complementing their already loyal local fanbase.
The stadium regularly attracts high-profile visitors including actors Brad Pitt, Will Ferrell, Bryan Cranston, Jason Bateman and Rob Lowe, while pop stars Justin and Hailey Bieber have made multiple appearances.
NBA star LeBron James, NFL quarterback Justin Herbert, actress Sydney Sweeney, and members of the British royal family Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all present during last year’s World Series. As Los Angeles prepares to host games one and two of the five-game series against Atlanta this weekend, fans wonder which celebrities will join the passionate crowd.
Pierre Ducrey, sports director for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a former Los Angeles resident, has observed numerous games at Dodger Stadium, becoming “quite familiar with the atmosphere it can deliver.”
“There are so many Dodger fans and they’re very passionate about the team,” Ducrey told BBC Sport. “They have an incredible venue and one thing I do know about baseball is this is the perfect home for a baseball tournament.”
