Dolly Parton has indicated she is investigating the possibility of using avatar performances to engage audiences going forward.
In a recent interview with *People*, she revealed that she and her team are collaborating with firms that specialize in creating avatar technology. She described the project as still in its early development stages and did not provide specific details about the envisioned avatars.
Her interest follows the controversial creation of an AI avatar for Ozzy Osbourne, which sparked backlash from fans who deemed it a cash grab. Sharon Osbourne defended the project, asserting that the family did not need fans’ money.
The Osbourne digital representation was produced by tech company Hyperreal after the singer’s passing in 2024. While some fans praised the initiative, others found it distasteful.
Jack Osbourne discussed the plans on his YouTube channel, emphasizing that the avatar would be crafted to remain tasteful and not “lame.”
Meanwhile, Dolly Parton has shared updates about her health. She was married to Carl Dean for 58 years until his death in March 2024, and the loss has taken a toll on her physical well‑being. She canceled a planned residency at Caesars Palace in May after reporting health challenges and incomplete rehearsals.
Her sister, Freida, posted a prayer request on social media, urging fans to keep Dolly in their thoughts. Freida later clarified that the post was not intended to alarm anyone.
Dolly responded with a video from a *Grand Ole Opry* commercial set, reassuring fans that she appears to be working hard and is not as ill as perceived. In March 2024 she made her first public appearance in months, delivering a keynote speech at Dollywood.
She described feeling “worn down and worn out” while grieving her husband and dealing with other personal matters, but she added that she has rebuilt herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically and is now back on track.
