Drake surprise-released his enigmatic “Fear of Missing Out” project Tuesday night, treating fans to a cinematic glimpse into his world.
Originally scheduled for a 9 p.m. ET debut, the livestream encountered brief delays before delivering what the artist described as a “not so short film.” The visual piece navigates through Drake’s summer lifestyle — touring his sprawling mansion, piloting a lime-green boat along the Toronto skyline, and sharing an intimate moment between his mother, Sandra “Icemom” Graham, and her close friends. The footage also showcases a pair of $150,000 Iron Man suits and a soundtrack featuring collaborations with Don Toliver, Sexyy Red, and a reimagined version of Ella Langley’s breakout hit “Choosin’ Texas.”
Anticipation for the project began building last month when Drake posted family photos captioned “FOMO 2026,” followed weeks later by an image of a CD cover bearing the “Fear of Missing Out” title. On the eve of release, he characterized the work as “self funded surrealism” and “a story about making the absolute most of it all in one summer.”
In an accompanying message, Drake offered perspective on the project’s intent: “Nobody is coming to save you. You must use each day to decipher who you love and trust and march forward with them.” He expressed hope that the work would inspire decisive action — whether making a call, taking a trip, releasing music, or mending relationships — while pushing back against industry narratives declaring the genre’s decline or the irrelevance of music videos. “I still care. As much as I did on the set of Best I Ever Had,” he wrote, closing with a nod to a bygone era: “So be kind and rewind.”
