Drone Footage Shows Beat- Inspired Biopics Recreating Iconic Abbey Road Crosswalk Scene

A drone video has captured a scene reminiscent of the legendary Beatles album cover on Abbey Road, recreated as part of the filming for Sam Mendes’ highly anticipated biographical films about the iconic band. The footage shows actors portraying John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr walking purposefully across the famous crosswalk outside the historic Abbey Road Studios in London, echoing the iconic image from the band’s 1969 album cover shoot.

The original photograph was taken on August 8, 1969, and the album went on to feature timeless classics such as “Come Together,” “Something,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and “Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End.” This new recreation marks another milestone in the ongoing production of what is being called The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event, with each film focusing on a different member of the legendary group.

Mendes is directing four separate biopics that explore the lives and careers of the Beatles from individual perspectives. Harris Dickinson plays John Lennon, Paul Mescal portrays Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn takes on the role of George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan embodies Ringo Starr. The announcement of these projects represents an unprecedented collaboration between Apple Corps Ltd. and the surviving members of the Beatles, along with the families of Lennon and Harrison, granting filmmakers full access to the band’s life stories and musical catalog.

The recreation video was shared on the official Beatles Biopic Updates social media account, offering fans a rare glimpse into the meticulous attention to detail involved in bringing the band’s story to the screen. Despite being filmed from above, the drone footage provides a clear view of the actors wearing period-appropriate costumes similar to those worn during the original Abbey Road shoot.
