Drone attacks targeted two ships in the Black Sea off the coast of Bulgaria early Tuesday, sinking one vessel and triggering extensive rescue operations, according to Prime Minister Rumen Radev.
One crew member from the sunken ship has been rescued, though authorities have not released details regarding the remaining personnel on board. Meanwhile, rescuers evacuated all 15 crew members from the second vessel, the Maltese-flagged Chelsea 3; five of them received medical treatment for minor injuries.
Radev condemned the assaults as “absolutely unacceptable” and has requested assistance from both NATO and the European Union. He noted that Bulgaria currently lacks definitive evidence to attribute responsibility for the strikes.
