Retired UFC star Dustin Poirier was arrested for alleged public drunkenness on Sunday in Georgia.
The 37‑year‑old was taken into custody and later released on bail, according to Clayton County court records. Specifics about the incident have not been disclosed, and the case remains under early investigation. The arrest was initially reported by TMZ.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Poirier wrote, “Love you all. I’m working on myself.”
After retiring from mixed‑martial‑arts competition in July, Poirier announced he was pursuing sobriety. In a November post he shared, “Been soul searching, I’m making some changes. Blessings on the journey.”
Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Poirier earned a reputation as one of MMA’s most popular fighters over the past decade, facing notable opponents such as Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and Khabib Nurmagomedov, among others.
Since stepping away from competition, Poirier has regularly contributed as an analyst for UFC events streamed on Paramount+.
