WWE/AAA
Following WWE AAA Worlds Collide 2026, El Grande Americano remains the AAA Mega Champion. The masked competitor has maintained significant momentum since capturing the gold at WWE AAA TripleMania 34. With Worlds Collide concluded, attention now turns to who will step forward as the next challenger for Americano’s championship. Here are five potential contenders for the AAA Mega Championship.
Dominik Mysterio
At WWE AAA TripleMania 34 Night Two, El Grande Americano defeated Dominik Mysterio to claim the AAA Mega Title. “Dirty Dom” and El Ojo have contested the result, citing interference from AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio, who counted the decisive pinfall. Seeking to reclaim the championship, Mysterio presents a logical first challenger. Backed by El Ojo and The Judgment Day, he possesses the resources to threaten Americano’s reign early.
Mr. Iguana
In recent weeks, Mr. Iguana has displayed renewed determination in pursuit of championship gold. At WWE AAA TripleMania 34 Friday, he fell short in a three-way match for the AAA Latin American Championship against La Parka and Laredo Kid. Despite the loss, Iguana has declared his intention to become a champion. Setting his sights higher, he could challenge El Grande Americano for the Mega Championship to prove he belongs at the top of the division.
Dragon Lee
Dragon Lee continues to build momentum across both WWE and Lucha Libre AAA. Whether challenging Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship or securing a victory over Jack Cartwheel, Lee has established himself as one of the premier in-ring performers globally. Currently competing in the AAA Cruiserweight division, a move up in weight class to challenge El Grande Americano would present a compelling stylistic clash for the new Mega Champion.
Daga
In June, Los Perros Del Mal returned to AAA under Daga’s leadership. Alongside Angel, Berto, and Karmen Petrovic, the faction has asserted dominance over the AAA roster. Their re-debut featured a vicious assault on El Grande Americano. With that rivalry established, Daga could reignite the conflict by challenging Americano for the AAA Mega Championship in the near future.
Omos
At WWE AAA TripleMania 34 Friday, Omos defeated Rey Mysterio to earn reinstatement to the promotion. Following the match, “The Nigerian Giant” chokeslammed Mysterio through the commentary table while the veteran was strapped to a gurney. Omos then captured the Copa Bardahl and inserted himself into the AAA Mega Title match between El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio on Sunday. With his imposing presence and alignment with El Ojo, Omos stands as a formidable immediate challenger for Americano’s championship.
