Eli Junior Kroupi sustained a foot injury during Bournemouth’s preseason preparations, ruling him out for several months.
With many clubs just resuming preseason training, a notable injury narrative has emerged that will ripple through the upcoming summer.
Recent reports indicate that Eli Junior Kroupi, the Bournemouth prodigy who made a splash in his first Premier League season, has fractured his metatarsal while training with the club in Austria.
Kroupi injury has silver lining for new era Bournemouth
He has already returned home for surgery and is projected to be sidelined for three to four months.
This setback is a blow for the Cherries and their new manager, Marco Rose, who aims to meet the expectations established by Andoni Iraola. However, the injury also eliminates ongoing transfer speculation surrounding the star player.
Several top clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Liverpool, had shown interest in Kroupi in recent weeks. While his transfer fee might have deterred many suitors, Bournemouth’s reluctance to sell was bound to spark intense bidding interest.
Kroupi scored 13 goals in 33 league appearances last season and remains central to Rose’s vision for the Vitality Stadium. Consequently, players such as Evanilson will need to elevate their performances at the start of the campaign.
