England have retained the same line‑up for the third Twenty20 International against India at Trent Bridge, aiming to take a 2‑0 lead in the five‑match series.

Jacob Bethell’s aggressive 76 not out from 46 deliveries guided the hosts to a targetprudently set at 191 with an over to spare at Emirates Old Trafford on Saturday. That followed a rain‑interrupted first match in Durham, where India had posted 189‑7.

The second T20 in Manchester was highlighted by 15‑year‑old India prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s debut. He hit sixes off Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue before being stumped by Will Jacks for 14 from 10 balls.

England XI for third T20 vs India

Phil Salt, Jos Buttler, Harry Brook (captain), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue.

Archer, Tongue and Curran will form England’s pace attack in Nottingham, while Jacks, Rashid and Dawson will provide the main spin threat. Bethell offers an additional slow‑bowling option if required.

England’s openers, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, are looking for a stronger start at Trent Bridge after both were dismissed for ducks in the first over at Old Trafford, bowled by Arshdeep Singh.

The fourth match of the series is scheduled for Bristol on Thursday at 5:30 pm, with the final fixture at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton on Saturday at 2:30 pm.

Tongue: I want to play all three formats

Tongue, who has claimed 57 wickets in 12 Tests at an average of 29.66, is also in the squad for the upcoming three‑match ODI series against India. He said, “I have always wanted to play all three formats. It’s a privilege to represent England.”

“You have to recover well after games. Test cricket is obviously very demanding on the body—I’ve learnt that over the last few years. So it’s about knowing your body inside out and having the right support to be as fit as you can.”

Speaking of Sooryavanshi, who earned his India cap after scoring 776 runs in the 2026 IPL at a strike rate of 237.30, Tongue noted, “I have watched him in the IPL—he’s an incredible talent. He hit one six off me instinctively, but I focus on what I need to do.”
