England have confirmed their place in the World Cup knockout stage ahead of their final group match against Panama on Saturday.

The Three Lions sit on four points after two games, guaranteeing at least one of the eight third‑place berths.

Four other teams—Sweden, Ecuador, Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Paraguay—are also on four points, with four groups, including England’s, yet to finish.

Uruguay’s loss to Spain on Saturday clinched England’s progression to the last‑32.

England began the tournament with a 4‑2 victory over Croatia before drawing 0‑0 with Ghana on Tuesday.

Coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Reece James will miss the final group game due to injury, and Declan Rice was absent from Thursday’s training session.

James, 26, sustained a hamstring problem in the goalless draw with Ghana.

Rice, who left Boston Stadium with his left calf strapped, also missed Thursday’s session at England’s training base in Kansas City.
