In anticipation of her forthcoming album Temple Songs, Laura Veirs has released a striking new video for the jazzy folk track “Pulse.” The visually arresting piece shows her enduring a playful assault of whipped cream, silly string, and a 110-pound deadlift—each moment reflecting the intense creative effort behind her upcoming project. Found Light, the follow-up to her earlier work, was entirely self-produced by Veirs over three months in her backyard studio, utilizing solely acoustic instruments, save for a mysterious saxophone contribution from an undisclosed guest musician. “This album was essential for reconnecting with my artistic vision, personal aesthetics, and inner strength,” she revealed in a recent statement. “Eventually, I found my rhythm—rediscovering the studio as a space for intimate experimentation, much like in my youth.”

Hovvdy: Big World [Arts & Crafts]

Since their debut full-length Taster nearly a decade ago, the duo Hovvdy has steadily evolved—from experimental slowcore fragments to sleek, water-drenched indie-pop sensations. Their latest release, Big World, continues this trajectory with tracks like “Blast” and “Try Try Try,” which shimmer with infectious melodies designed to linger just beyond memory’s edge. Meanwhile, their ballads drift through meandering, Grammy-nominated-worthy arrangements that seamlessly blend into rich ambient textures, drawing listeners further into their sonic universe.
