Jack Grealish was omitted from Everton’s Carabao Cup fixture against Newcastle United on Thursday, reportedly due to a breach of club discipline.
The Toffees provided no further specifics, though it is understood that the omission stemmed from Grealish missing a training session.
The England winger, who is on loan from Manchester City, is 31 years old.
He previously joined Everton on a similar loan basis last season, contributing two goals and six assists in 20 appearances before a season‑ending foot injury curtailed his campaign in January.
Grealish appeared as a substitute in Manchester City’s 3‑0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal at Wembley in August.
The former Aston Villa captain, a £100 million City signing in 2021, also featured off the bench in City’s 2‑1 victory over Bournemouth on the Premier League’s opening weekend.
He returned to Everton before the transfer window closed and has featured in five Premier League matches so far this term.
Grealish also played in Everton’s Carabao Cup third‑round win over Wolves.
