Hong Kong’s anti‑corruption agency has charged the former chairman of Greentown China Holdings with allegedly accepting HK$20 million (about US$2.5 million) in bribes from a mainland property developer in return for securing a stake in one of its projects.
Zhang Yadong, 58, who led the listed firm from 2019 to 2025, is accused of conspiracy to accept advantages, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) announced on Friday.
The matter was brought before Eastern Court on the same day.
Prosecutors claim that between January 2020 and March 2023, Zhang colluded with his son, an intermediary, a shareholder of a Dalian‑based estate developer in Liaoning province, and others to solicit HK$20 million in bribes. In exchange, Greentown China would acquire equity interests in the developer’s real‑estate venture.
