Former Chennai Super Kings captain Vansh Bedi has become the focal point of recent controversy over betting and potential corruption in Indian domestic cricket, after his name appeared in reports tied to a sting operation led by former Ranji Trophy all‑star Rachit Bhatia.
Importantly, Bedi is not accused of engaging in corrupt behavior. According to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), the mid‑wicket keeper voluntarily reported a possible match‑fixing scheme to the Anti‑Corruption Unit during the 2026 DPL season.
Bedi played for Central Delhi Kings in the most recent DPL campaign. A senior DDCA official confirmed that an Uttar Pradesh‑based player approached him, who promptly filed the issue with the Anti‑Corruption Unit. The complaint was recorded, and the DDCA alerted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for further direction.
This report surfaces alongside a different scandal sparked by the Tehelka sting operation. The probe revealed that Bhatia claimed privileged knowledge of players’ XI sheets and alleged involvement in betting and spot‑fixing practices within both domestic and IPL competitions. While Bhatia’s statements were made under suspicion, the allegations lack independent verification.
Bedi’s earlier link with Chennai Super Kings provides additional scrutiny. He helped establish the Central Delhi Kings franchise in the 2025 IPL season, missing only an injury that forced him away from play. Subsequently, he entered the domestic circuit, earning appearances for Central Delhi Kings in the DPL.
Following online speculation tying him to the unnamed player in the sting investigation, Bedi unequivocally rejected the accusation, labeling the allegations false and defamatory. He insists that he bears no connection to the person referenced in the investigation.
