[A FORMER WRESTLER’S ENIGMATIC TEASE HINTS AT A MEGA RETURN AT AEW REDEMPTION 2026]
The inaugural AEW Redemption event is scheduled to take place live at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and promises to be a significant occasion. As Tony Khan continues to expand his wrestling schedule with new Pay-Per-View events, tonight’s show is expected to feature substantial shocks and surprises for fans.
Amid the growing speculation about potential newcomers, a former WWE Champion has hinted at a possible return to the promotion, sharing this news mere hours before the event. Adding to the anticipation, an AEW All-Star posted a mysterious message on their official Instagram account, suggesting a potential return.
Buddy Matthews, the former AEW World Trios Champion, shared a photograph with an ambiguous caption that serves as a veiled warning to those who abandoned him. The message appears to suggest a connection to his former tag team partner, Brody King.
Buddy Matthews on IG:
“They left me in the darkness, convinced I’d never find my way.
Redemption was waiting where they stopped looking.”— WrestlePurists (@WrestlePurists) July 26, 2026
Following his decision to leave the ring in 2025, BBT has been absent from AEW television for over a year due to a fractured ankle. He was most recently seen on the Grand Slam episode of Dynamite in February 2025. He challenged Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Continental Championship but was unsuccessful in securing the victory. After the match, he disclosed that he had injured his ankle during his entrance, which has kept him out of competition.
