Eric Trump appeared on “Fox & Friends” following the official renaming of Palm Beach International Airport to Donald J. Trump International Airport.
On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration began the transition, changing the airport’s FAA identifier from PBI to DJT and updating all pilot and air‑traffic‑control references.
The rename was mandated by legislation signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on March 30, which directed Palm‑Beach County to obtain federal approvals and commence the transition.
Since Thursday, the FAA code will be DJT, while the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) code is KDJT. These identifiers are used for flight planning, navigation, and other operational purposes.
Airlines will continue to use the commercial code PBI when searching for flights, booking tickets, and checking baggage until the International Air Transport Association (IATA) implements the commercial code change to DJT on Aug. 18. Officials said the shift is at the request of several airlines and is designed to give reservation systems, airport partners, and passenger‑facing platforms time to update.
Motorists already note the new signage, with Florida Department of Transportation signs and on‑site airport signs being replaced in phases. The renaming does not affect ownership or day‑to‑day governance; Palm‑Beach County will continue overseeing operations, finances, and strategic decisions.
Airport officials confirmed that the costs for transition will be covered by airport revenues or other funding sources, with potential state assistance, rather than local property taxes.
One of the first high‑profile arrivals after the transition will be Eric Trump нимис, whose personal aircraft, Trump Force One, is scheduled to land shortly after the new FAA identifier took effect. He celebrated the milestone on social media, noting the significance of the DJT initials on his boarding pass.
Airport officials will continue to post updates on the airport’s website and social media channels as additional signage, branding, and passenger‑facing systems are rolled out.
