Fans of “Stranger Things” and Sydney Sweeney have reacted to the Emmys’ recent snub of both the series and the actress.
The 2026 TV Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday, July 8, in Los Angeles, with the ceremony scheduled for September 14 at the Peacock Theater and hosted by Mariska Hargitay. Leading the pack were HBO’s “The Pitt” with 25 nominations and “Hacks” with 24, while the comedy‑horror series “Widow’s Bay” earned 19 nominations. Notably absent from the list was the final season of “Stranger Things,” which missed out on Best Drama and any acting categories despite mixed viewer reactions.
The finale proved divisive, prompting fans to take to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration. Jamie Campbell Bower’s portrayal of Vecna was a particular point of contention, with one supporter posting: “There are demogorgons in the Upside Down raging that their King was not crowned with at the very least an acknowledgement and nomination for an Emmy for Vecna, 001 & Henry !! #jamietwt knows @Jamiebower is Worthy x
.” Another fan added: “jamie not nominated for an emmy for vecna is a DISGRACE like how do you-”

Other cast members also drew fan support. “All jokes aside i think Gaten Matarazzo and Sadie Sink delivered Emmy‑worthy performances even if the season as a whole was horrible,” observed one viewer.

Euphoria fans similarly argued that Sydney Sweeney’s performance as Cassie in the drama’s third season merited a nomination. “Sydney Sweeney got ROBBED. Those wedding meltdown scenes were Emmy gold. Cassie carried the chaos. ,” wrote one commenter. Another added: “I know the people don’t like Sydney Sweeney, but she absolutely deserved an Emmy nom for the last season of Euphoria! She acted her ass off, I’m sorry.” A third voice suggested that past controversies may have influenced the outcome: “Yes you might have issues with her for other things but her acting in that season was award winning.”

Sydney Sweeney not being nominated for an Emmy for s3 of Euphoria is wild to me. Judging purely on acting, she carried the show through that season more than Zendaya did. Yes you might have issues with her for other things but her acting in that season was award winning.

During last September’s awards ceremony, several winners used their speeches to deliver political messages, a trend that drew sharp criticism from Ricky Gervais. Gervais mocked the remarks on social media, accusing the presenters of “knowing nothing about the real world,” though his post was later removed.
