Eleven people have died after a civilian aircraft transporting skydivers crashed in the town of Tomblaine, eastern France, according to local authorities.

The pilot and all ten occupants — five students and five instructors — were killed in the crash, local officials reported.

The aircraft, operated by a skydiving school, had departed from Nancy‑Essey Airfield before the accident, as reported by local media.

Police have urged the public to stay clear of the airport area in the Meurthe‑et‑Moselle department.

The French interior minister is en route to the crash site, the interior ministry confirmed.

Yves Seguy, prefect of the Meurthe‑et‑Moselle department, stated that no bystanders were injured, according to AFP.

Local officials noted that relatives of the victims were present at the airfield during the incident.
