Non-residents holding a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) are not required to file a tax return for their RDA investments and will not be subject to non-filer rates, according to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The clarification follows several inquiries regarding investments in the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) via RDA and the repatriation of profits.
Tax will be deducted at filer rates on gains and dividends from PSX, provided the investment is made using profits received through the RDA. Transferring funds abroad via the RDA is not subject to taxation.
Additionally, non-residents are exempt from filing an income tax return, as income earned from debt instruments within the RDA is tax-exempt.
