FC Barcelona has resumed discussions about acquiring Harry Kane from Bayern Munich, per SPORT and the Daily Mail.
The English striker netted three goals during England’s 2026 World Cup group stage, including a brace in their 4-2 victory over Croatia and a goal in the 4-2 win against Panama following a cross from Jude Bellingham.
Kane remains focused on England’s World Cup campaign, which could influence his club situation post-tournament. Barça’s interest appears tied to a potential move after the England fixtures conclude, with reports indicating Kane’s representatives have been approached.
Kane’s arrival could replicate Lewandowski’s success at Camp Nou
The club’s history of attracting older Bayern attackers suggests this could work. In 2022, they signed Robert Lewandowski for €50 million at age 34, who later earned a place as a modern-era club legend with 120 goals in 193 games.
Lewandowski’s departure on June 30 as a free agent mirrors Kane’s potential timeline, though Barcelona may push for a buy option or reduced fee given his expiring contract.
Kane, 32, is at his peak professionally and thrives in high-pressure environments. His playmaking ability and synergy with Barça’s wingers like Raphinha or Yamal could elevate the team’s attacking output.
While Julian Alvarez has agreed to a five-year deal, his reported €175 million price tag—escalated by Real Madrid interest—makes Kane a more cost-effective option. Barcelona has not submitted a formal bid to Kane or Bayern, though they’ve kept dialogue open.
