KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 — Malaysia’s stock market is currently stable, underpinned by transparent government policies and an environment that facilitates foreign fund inflows, according to Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
The present performance of the stock market demonstrates the stability of Malaysia’s capital market, even amid global geopolitical shifts and uncertainties.
We can expect stock prices to rise and fall as a result of various global developments. At present, worldwide geopolitics are undergoing significant change.
The essential point, however, is that Malaysia’s stock market remains stable, a condition ensured by the government’s transparent policies and measures that encourage foreign fund inflows,” he said during the Ministers’ Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was replying to a supplementary query from Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang), who asked whether a decline in stock value exceeding RM1 billion could affect Malaysia’s economy and what factors are prompting foreign investors to withdraw.
Amir Hamzah noted that the stability of the stock market is being reinforced by strong inflows of foreign direct investment, following the substantial volume of approved investments in Malaysia.
