Fiona Apple Releases New Track “Horns Of The Bull” for Apple TV+ Series “Lucky”

It has now been six years since Fiona Apple released her album Fetch The Bolt Cutters. For admirers of her work, this interval reflects her deliberate creative rhythm. While Apple has not announced a full album release in the near future, her recent video message highlighted her challenges in addressing the “endless barrage of horrors” in contemporary society. Nevertheless, she remains committed to her artistic endeavors.

In 2023, Apple contributed to several projects. She contributed to a Neil Young tribute album by covering “Heart Of Gold,” performed “Letter From An Unknown Girlfriend” for the Waterboys’ album, and released the benefit single “Pretrial (Let Her Go Home)” inspired by her volunteer work as a court-watcher. Notably, she co-wrote Cara Delevingne’s electro-pop track “Need It” and composed “Horns Of The Bull,” the theme song for the Apple TV+ series Lucky, which premiered this year.

Lucky is based on Marissa Stapley’s novel and features Anya Taylor-Joy as a cunning international con-artist evading the FBI, alongside Annette Bening’s crime lord. The cast also includes Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Clifton Collins Jr. The series appears to be a compelling production.

Fiona Apple’s ties to Lucky extend beyond her musical contribution. She co-produced “Horns Of The Bull” with her drummer Amy Aileen Wood, whose wife Cassie Pappas serves as one of the series’ showrunners. Though Apple has not officially released the track, the first two episodes of Lucky are available on Apple TV+, making the song and its title sequence accessible. The composition reflects Apple’s signature style, characterized by intricate lyricism and dynamic shifts, condensed into a 1 minute 40 second piece.
