A young bald eagle has officially departed its nest in Big Bear Valley, California, marking a major milestone in its development.
Thousands of viewers tuned into a livestream hosted by Friends of Big Bear Valley to witness the moment the juvenile eagle, known as Luna, successfully flapped its wings and glided to a nearby tree for the very first time.
In addition to the digital audience, local bird watchers gathered in the valley, located east of Los Angeles, to observe the historic event in person.
