MIRAMSHAH: Five security personnel were killed when terrorists attacked a bomb disposal unit (BDU) during curfew hours in Razmak subdivision of North Waziristan district on Sunday.
Sources said the incident occurred near a security checkpost in the Waidoon area of Dosali tehsil, where a BDU team was carrying out routine operational duties. Armed militants launched an attack on the security personnel, resulting in the deaths of five members at the scene.
The attack triggered a high‑alert situation in the area, prompting security forces to launch a large‑scale search and clearance operation.
Reportedly, the bodies were airlifted by helicopter to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu for necessary formalities and funeral arrangements.
Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated an extensive search operation to locate the assailants. Multiple checkpoints were established on key routes, and movement in and around the affected locality was placed under strict surveillance.
