Republican candidates in Florida successfully repelled multiple high‑profile Democratic challenges, and the state also elected its first Black governor.
Republican Byron Donalds, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, is projected to win the governor’s race, and Republican Ashley Moody is expected to retain her Senate seat.
She faced Democrat Angie Nixon in a special election for the Secretary of State position, formerly held by Senator Marco Rubio.
These victories occurred alongside numerous historic Democratic gains that secured full control of both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate during the final years of President Trump’s administration.
