Former Pitt Standout Blake Hinson Offers Insight on Securing a Spot with the Jazz

Blake Hinson is prepared to do whatever it takes to secure his place on an NBA roster.

Hinson led Pitt in scoring during the 2022‑23 and 2023‑24 seasons, and he has transitioned from a primary offensive option to a complementary role in the NBA. After limited opportunities with the Lakers, Warriors, and Trail Blazers, he seized a chance in Utah, where he posted 11.9 points per game over 14 appearances last season.

His current objective is to demonstrate to the Jazz that he merits a permanent roster spot. He impressed in the Jazz’s opening preseason game, tallying 14 points on 5‑of‑8 shooting and grabbing six rebounds.

The standout moment of his preseason came in a postgame interview, where, when asked about the early rotations and team chemistry, Hinson replied, “I can help however.”

“I can get coffee,” Hinson said. “I can make a shot, talk to teammates, watch a dog, or do anything to be part of the program.”

While the Jazz likely won’t request a dog‑walking venture, they hope to continue seeing him make 3‑pointers.
