Framework is pushing back the release of its Laptop 13 Pro by approximately one month to resolve manufacturing problems. The company informed pre-order customers that it identified issues with the haptic touchpad and custom display, prompting a pause in mass production to implement fixes. Shipments, originally scheduled to begin in late June, are now expected to start in late July, though some units may not be completed until August.
The company stated it does not anticipate further delays beyond September and emphasized its commitment to ensuring the devices meet high standards for reliability. Customers dissatisfied with the wait may cancel their orders for a full refund.
Framework detailed the specific problems encountered. The haptic touchpad suffered from PCB design flaws causing unwanted grounding, necessitating a redesign. The custom display required a firmware update before production could proceed. Notably, orders that did not include the updated touchpad or display remain unaffected. The company confirmed that mainboards featuring Intel’s new Core Ultra Series 3 processors will ship on schedule, along with other modular components.
Additionally, Framework is allowing pre-order customers to adjust their RAM configurations. In response to supply constraints affecting LPCAMM2 memory availability, customers who initially planned to source RAM separately will now have the option to include it in their orders.
