Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets across France as a wave of protests by high school pupils expanded to include parents, university students, and labor unions.
Teenagers marched from Place de la République in Paris, demanding increased educational resources and an end to what they described as excessive police repression.
Police responded with force in several cities, deploying tear gas in Paris and Marseille, using water cannon in Rennes, and clashing with demonstrators in Lyon. Despite these confrontations, the demonstrations remained largely peaceful compared to previous waves of unrest.
